Let the Race Begin
It seems like the 2016 presidential elections are far off, but the candidates are already going head to head for the position. Here are the front-runners.
Hilary Clinton: You may have heard of her email scandal in which she used her personal email to send work related emails while she was Secretary of State. However, she refuses to let that get in her way. She is running as a Democrat and her top goals are economic reform, climate control, and making college more affordable (good-bye enormous student loans). If elected, she would make history as the first female president.
Donald Trump: Whether it is because of his digs on the other candidates, his insulting comments about notable women such as Rosie O’Donnell and Megyn Kelly, or his infamous hair, Trump has made the news nearly every day since he announced that he is running as a GOP candidate. His website is unclear about his goals for America, but his focus is presumably boarder control and immigration reform.
Bernie Sanders: He has not made as big a splash as Clinton or Trump, but Sanders is gaining more and more support each day. He appeals to some younger voters because of his liberal stance on many issues. He is known for his fight for women’s rights and racial equality. Sanders is running as a Democrat.
Ben Carson: Carson is widely known as the retired brain surgeon who awoke one day with fervor to run for president. Like many of the other candidates, Carson has been on the receiving side of Donald Trump’s insults. The latest insult from Trump is that Carson “is a doctor, not a deal-maker.” Even though Carson is proud of his career, he does not want to be defined as just a neurosurgeon. If elected, he would target issues such as healthcare, education, and a balanced budget.
