Nerinx Hall Recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School

Every year, around three hundred and fifty grade schools, elementary schools, and high schools around the country are picked for the prestigious honor of being a National Blue Ribbon school. Both public and private schools are eligible for this award, but this year, only seven private institutions received the award. Nerinx Hall High School is proud to be on this list. Two of the seven private schools nationwide are located in Missouri, with the other being St. Louis University High.  In order to even be considered for this award, a school must demonstrate the minimum requirements that have been established by the Department of Education. The school must be “high performing” meaning the students place in the top 15 percent of the nation in reading and mathematics, as determined by national tests tests taken each year, or in the top 15 percent of the state with regards to state tests. A Blue Ribbon School must also have a graduation rate higher than 95 percent in the past year. Honored schools were notified in September, with the awards ceremony being held about a month after the news came out.

In early November, Mrs. Kosash, Mrs. Hunt, and Mr. Gabriel traveled to D.C. for the awards ceremony. The program director of the Department of Education congratulated the recipients, gave them a plaque, and took a picture with them, after the recipients danced their way onto the stage.

This recognition was due to extraordinary teachers, dedicated students, and supportive families.  This honor allows Nerinx Hall faculty, staff, and students to showcase something they have known all along: that Nerinx is a school to be proud of.

Congratulations Nerinx!
