It’s Flu SZN. That means taking extra precautions to ensure you stay healthy. Follow these tips to keep your health in tip top shape.
- Wash your hands: This is the golden rule of flu season. Wash your hands with soap and hot water and try to create a good amount of friction.
- Stay home if you have symptoms: You don’t want to infect other people and further the spread of germs. If you have a fever, stay home, which leads to the next point…
- Get lots of sleep: as busy students, trying to cram so much in a day, it is vital for good health to get at least 8 hours of sleep. Sleep helps rebuild the immune system to ward off viruses.
- Eat healthy meals: Eating healthy meals is always important but certain foods can actually help the immune system fight sickness. Garlic, salmon, and leafy greens are all foods rich in vitamins, helping to fight the flu.
- Avoid close contact: The flu is spread through droplets made when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Avoid being in super close contact with people. Pro Tip: avoid touching nose/mouth/eyes. This is how the virus ends up in our bodies. If you need to wipe your eyes/nose/mouth, do so with a tissue.
Follow these five tips and you will stay healthy and on top of your health this flu season.
