February 14th: the day most people dread when they do not have a significant other to spend the holiday with. But, who declared that being single on Valentine’s Day was a bad thing? As a matter of fact, there are many things to do when you are single and still able to celebrate the day of love. Don’t have a significant other and the calendar reads February 14th? Here are ten things to do if you are single on Valentine’s Day!

  1. Buy yourself chocolates.

When was it ever declared that someone else had to buy you candy, especially chocolate, on Valentine’s Day? This is your opportunity to treat yourself! Loving yourself is a necessity when traveling through the game of life, so why not pat yourself on the back and buy yourself a box of chocolates.

  1. Buy your mom roses.

Name a better opportunity to show your mother, or any other special relative in your life, your gratitude for their endless love than buying her some flowers. Think about it. Your mom always does so much for you, so why not show her your love and appreciation by buying her some pleasant smelling flowers for the kitchen table?

  1. Hand out valentines to your closest friends.

At this point in your life, you and your friends have been through a lot. They have seen you at your lowest points and have been there for you. I’m sure you’ve done the same for them. Spread the love and hand your closest buds little thank you or Valentine’s cards. No matter what relationships you have in your life, your friends will always be there when you need it the most.

  1. Celebrate Galentine’s Day.

Who said you need a romantic candlelit dinner to set the mood on Valentine’s Day? Grab your closest friend and go to dinner just to catch up and have a good time. Celebrate love with your closest and truest friend who has been there for you in all stages of your life. Maybe even rekindle with a childhood or grade school best friend. If you simply can’t choose, bring a whole group of friends to celebrate. Girl power is one of the most powerful things the world has to offer, so take advantage of that gift!

  1. Watch your favorite movies starring your celebrity crush.

Okay, let’s face it. Everyone has a celebrity crush or has had one at a time in their life. We at least fantasize about being in a relationship with this person at some point, so why not embrace it and pop in the movie he or she stars in? Nothing puts you more in the romantic mood than swooning when watching your celebrity crush act it up on screen!

  1. Babysit for a couple that rarely gets the opportunity to go out.

Some couples rarely get the opportunity to go out because their kids require all of their attention. Why not offer to babysit in order for them to have some time together? Think about it, you can receive money to treat yourself with. You can also sit around, watch Disney movies, and eat goldfish on a Wednesday night. I can’t think of a better way to spend it!

  1. Watch Disney movies.

Most Disney movies are all about the love. Some of our favorite couples from our childhood have gotten together on screen right in front of our eyes. When we were young, I’m sure we had that one Disney crush that we were head over heels for. Take the night to watch your favorite Disney love stories. Trust me, when seeing Flynn Rider on the big screen, your fairy-tale romance will come true for about two hours!

  1. Order yourself a single’s subscription box.

Listen, nothing makes us happier than free stuff. (I mean, as free as we can make it since we are paying for a subscription.) Order yourself a single’s subscription box so you can receive sweet treats, beauty products, and more, delivered right to your doorstep.

  1. Buy a stuffed teddy bear for your dog.

Let’s not forget about our pets. They love us, and to them, we are their entire world. Let’s show the love by getting them a stuffed animal toy. Don’t have a dog? That’s okay! Take the opportunity to buy your pet’s favorite treat or any other thing you know they would love.

  1. Make Valentine’s Day your own.

There are going to be many Valentine’s Days in our futures, many of which we aren’t going to spend single. So spruce it up! This is your day to do whatever you want. Sick of all the couple pictures on Instagram? Make it your own and post a picture with you and some donuts. Today is your day to shine your brightest self, so make it your own and embrace being single because it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Don’t stress about it; after all, it is just another day on the calendar and just another day of your life.
